Goodman Lands Success at Arlington Business Park, Reading with Bali National Landscape Awards

5 December 2008

Arlington Business Park, Reading which is managed by international property group Goodman has been recognised for its high quality, landscaped environment at the prestigious 2008 BALI (British Association of Landscape Industries) National Landscape Awards.

The annual awards, announced on 5th December, showcase professionalism and best practice in the landscape industry. Arlington Business Park, Reading won the 'Grounds Maintenance of Business and Private Grounds' category.

The 48-acre site is maintained by landscaping team Reliance Landscapes. The Business Park offers a unique atmosphere for its customers and visitors, with a large central lake, walkways and seating areas offering striking views of the surrounding setting. A stream and extensive soft landscaping provide an integrated natural environment which is truly outstanding.

Commenting on the winning Park, judges said: "This is a superb example of both ongoing maintenance and a realistic programme of upgrading plant material to keep this long established and expanding business park looking fresh."

The Business Park is one of the south east's most successful schemes, with customers including KPMG, Wolseley, The Royal Bank of Scotland and PepsiCo. Close to both the M4 and Theale railway station, customers benefit from a range of nearby shops and leisure facilities, as well as additional property services provided by Goodman. This award win is Goodman's second recent success at the Business Park, with new customer Acision signing up to a new company headquarters in September, representing one of the few speculative lettings to have taken place in the Thames Valley region this year.

Jim Johnston, Goodman's Managing Director, UK Business Parks commented: "We are delighted to have won this prestigious award. We have been developing and managing different types of office schemes and business parks for more than twenty years, which means we have a solid idea of the kind of environment customers want to work in. This is reflected in what we have achieved at Arlington Business Park, Reading and at other Goodman schemes across the country."

Goodman has a track record of creating high quality mixed-use environments such as Hatfield Business Park, Gloucester Business Park and Oxford Business Park. The company has delivered headquarter developments for customers including Cadbury Schweppes, GMAC, T-Mobile, Oxfam and NATS. In October, Goodman scooped two awards at Property Week's 2008 Office Development Awards, winning the "Best overall development outside central London" and "Best bespoke development outside central London" categories.
