Local Businesses Take a Walk on the Wild Side
14 May 2009
Local businesses took the opportunity to take a lunchtime 'walk on the wild side' and learn about their natural environment at a newly opened nature trail at Goodman's Arlington Business Park in Theale today.
Amongst the high quality office buildings is an urban oasis where native plants and wildlife flourish. Global property group Goodman, which owns, develops and manages most of the Park, invited occupiers to attend a walk along the nature trail with representatives from Kingcombe Aquacare, which maintains the lakes at Arlington Business Park, together with grounds maintenance staff from Reliance Landscaping.
Set within a superb natural setting, Arlington Business Park already has over six different species of fish including carp, pike and rudd living amongst the plant life in the three acre lake. It is also frequently visited by a wide range of waterfowl, including swans, which often nest on site, and herons and cormorants. Additional planting on the Park will also attract bees, butterflies, hoverflies and moths. Goodman hopes that enhancing the trail will enable occupiers to learn more about the environment that surrounds them.
Richard Potter, Property Services Director of UK Business Parks for Goodman said: "As one of the world's leading developers of business space we pride ourselves on creating high quality working environments for our customers in unique settings. Arlington Business Park has already been highly recognised by the British Association of Landscape Industries (BALI) for its landscaping and environment, which provides our occupiers with a relaxing retreat. Nature features in abundance so we want to preserve its future by informing and educating our occupiers about the wildlife we have here."
Nick Ellicott, Global Facilities Manager of Acision, the worlds leading messaging company which provides communication solutions for over 300 network operators and service providers globally, said: "It's been great to walk the nature trail and find out about the different species of plants and wildlife that we have here. Not only has the wildlife walk been educational, it provides a good opportunity to meet other occupiers on the Park. Arlington Business Park already offers a unique working environment for businesses. This new trail will allow us to really make the most of our natural surroundings."
Goodman hopes the nature trail will also provide a precious resource for local schools who want to study outside of the classroom. If you're a local school and want to bring learning to life contact Nigel Wright, Property Manager on 0118 932 7408 or email Nigel.Wright@goodman.com
